This coffee is the result of the work of our import partner Semilla Coffee who has made it their goal to ensure a direct traceability to the small producers cultivating the cherries rather than to the washing station, a revolutionary concept in Rwanda. This lot highlights the work of a group of 5 producers: Afrodis Gahonzire, Azitha Urwijumukondo, Athanase Fatisuka, Gratien Nkejuwimy, and Froduard Rusingizandekwe.

Story
We are particularly thrilled to present this coffee since it’s our very first offering from the Rwandan terroir. The Akagera washing station, where this coffee is processed, is located in the famous district of Nyamasheke, between the beautiful Lake Kivu and the Nyungwe National Forest. It is a fairly small station, with 460 farmers delivering cherries, for a total of around 380 bags of exportable green coffee per year. This allows managers to focus exclusively on quality, whereas some larger stations must manage commercial grades as well as specialties.
