Story
This coffee is a blend of coffees grown by 16 small holders living near La Coipa in northern Peru. The lots are first evaluated separately before being approved to be part of a high-quality regional blend. They are all organic certified and composed of Caturra, Pache, Bourbon and Catimor varieties. The process used for these lots is a washed process but preceded by a fermentation of several hours in cherries before pulping, offering a complex profile with ripe fruit tones. The growers are part of Origin Coffee Labs support program which aims to promote quality and provide a stepping stone to long-term success and profitability. They receive training on good agricultural practices and post-harvest techniques, quality assessments as well as access to financing. The quality premiums paid to them are higher than those commonly offered in the region.
