Particularities
This coffee received a score of 87 on the Specialty Coffee Association scale, making it an exceptional coffee. The SCA score is a score out of 100 points, awarded according to specific criteria: smell, aroma, aftertaste, acidity, body, uniformity, balance, purity, sweetness and general impression. Certified professional tasters, called Q Graders, determine the final grade judging the quality of a coffee. A coffee is said to be speciality when it exceeds 80/100.






Story
Aurelio Villatoro is the son of Eleodoro Villatoro who founded the renowned Finca La Esperanza in the late 1950s in the highlands of Hoja Blanca, Huehuetenango. Since, Aurelio had started his own farms, this first called Villaure newt to his dad’s one and the second called Punta del Cerro in Pena Roda. He passed on his passion to the new generation and nowadays his son Jenner handles much of the day-to-day farm management. Rodin, his younger son, manages alternative processing and experimental lots which all happen at their Punta del Cerra farm. Their cousin Denis also runs a QC lab located in the city oh Huehuetenango. All this hard work has culminated in coffees of incredible clarity and structure, and awards in many Cup of Excellence auctions.
