Discovery Trio, Filter

66.00$

The new Filter Trio allows you to compare three different coffees from 3 renowned producing regions! This format of 3x300g presents these 3 coffee producers:

Oscar & Luis Monge, Patricia Perez and Brayan Meneses.

Oscar & Luis Monge

It was on our very first trip to Costa Rica in 2017 that we selected a lot from their farm from dozens of samples. Specifically, the coffee we selected this year is from one of their farms named Pie San. It is a 100% Catuai variety lot, grown at over 1900 meters above sea level, the highest point on their land. It is prepared using the honey method, a hybrid process between washed and natural, where the dry coffee parchment is surrounded by part of the pulp of the cherry. We taste a cup with fine black cherry and citrus notes, with a nice caramelized length.

Patricia Perez

We are in the fourth year of our relationship with this producer whom we first visited in February 2020. In the village of Agua Dulce, on the western border of the Huehuetenango region, Patricia lives with her mother Auri and 8-year-old daughter Iza in their simple but charming home overlooking their drying patios. She grows Bourbon, Caturra, Maragogype and Geisha varieties in the shade of several fruit trees: lemon, orange, banana and apricot. This year's lot comes to us from the highest point of its land and is composed of Bourbon and Caturra varieties. We taste a balanced cup with chocolate notes and buttery texture, followed by fine aromas of apricot.

Brayan Meneses

At only 29 years old, Brayan Meneses is part of the new generation of coffee growers but is far from lacking in expertise. Immersed in the world of coffee farming from a young age, he learned everything from his grandfather by helping out on the family plantation. In addition to these practical skills, Brayan also holds a computer technician diploma and is in the process of obtaining a second one in agronomy. With this level of higher education, he can see the industry from a more modern perspective. Five years ago, he saw the need to move from a more traditional model to one focused on quality and puts his knowledge into action to improve his production on all levels. We taste dominant flavors of roasted hazelnuts and lemon curd as well as a sweet herbaceous finish reminiscent of black licorice.
