Discovery Trio, Filter

66.00$

The new Filter Trio allows you to compare three different coffees from 3 renowned producing regions! This format of 3x300g presents these 3 coffee producers:

Akagera, Gabriel Castano et Brayan Meneses.

Akagera

This coffee is the result of the work of our import partner Semilla Coffee who has made it their goal to ensure a direct traceability to the small producers cultivating the cherries rather than to the washing station, a revolutionary concept in Rwanda. This lot highlights the work of a group of 5 producers: Afrodis Gahonzire, Azitha Urwijumukondo, Athanase Fatisuka, Gratien Nkejuwimy, and Froduard Rusingizandekwe. The Akagera washing station, where this coffee is processed, is in the famous district of Nyamasheke, between the beautiful Lake Kivu and the Nyungwe National Forest. In the cup, we taste a rich honey and fig jam sweetness and juicy Concord grape notes

Gabriel Castaño

Gabriel Castaño Buendia made a name for himself for popularizing the pink bourbon mutation in the southern Huila region of Colombia. It was after discovering the mysterious variety on another farm where he was a picker that he decided to plant it on his entire 2-hectare plot. In addition to the distinctive color of the cherries, he particularly likes it for its resistance to the coffee leaf rust disease. Gabriel and his wife Carmen have 6 children to whom they passed on their passion for coffee growing and who are now producers themselves. We taste a creamy tropical cup that reminds us of vanilla, pineapple, and pomegranate juice.

Brayan Meneses

At only 29 years old, Brayan Meneses is part of the new generation of coffee growers but is far from lacking in expertise. Immersed in the world of coffee farming from a young age, he learned everything from his grandfather by helping out on the family plantation. In addition to these practical skills, Brayan also holds a computer technician diploma and is in the process of obtaining a second one in agronomy. With this level of higher education, he can see the industry from a more modern perspective. Five years ago, he saw the need to move from a more traditional model to one focused on quality and puts his knowledge into action to improve his production on all levels. We taste dominant flavors of roasted hazelnuts and lemon curd as well as a sweet herbaceous finish reminiscent of black licorice.
