Estrella Divina is a community blend born from a partnership between Origin Coffee Lab and small-scale producers from the La Coipa district in northern Peru. Since its launch in 2017, the project has focused on improving coffee quality while supporting sustainability and equity for producers. Origin’s Solidario program strengthens this commitment through training, technical guidance, and financial support. Each producer receives feedback on their farming practices, enabling them to invest further in their farm and continuously improve the quality of their harvests. The name Estrella Divina, meaning “divine star” in Spanish, reflects the collective commitment behind this coffee. The close collaboration between producers and Origin Coffee Lab ensures that each lot tells a story of passion, expertise, and community.

The La Coipa terroir is ideal for specialty coffee thanks to its elevations ranging from 1,600 to 1,900 meters and its favorable microclimate, which allow for slow, aromatic cherry maturation. Fertile soils and local biodiversity support a healthy ecosystem. Producers practice sustainable, often organic farming, favoring environmentally responsible methods to ensure the quality and consistency of the coffees produced.

Estrella Divina producers primarily grow the Bourbon, Caturra, Pache, and Catuai varieties, all known for their rich and balanced aromatic profiles. The project also plans the gradual introduction of new varieties, such as Yellow Caturra, to further enhance consistency and complexity in the coffees. Each variety is carefully maintained and hand-harvested, ensuring that only perfectly ripe cherries are selected. The result is a high-quality, uniform coffee that truly reflects the craftsmanship and expertise of local producers.

The cherries are processed using controlled fermentation and drying techniques, adapted to sun exposure and the local microclimate. This precise approach maximizes flavor development while preserving the coffee’s natural balance. Careful attention at every stage, from harvest to fermentation, ensures consistent quality and distinctive aromatic profiles.
