Acatenango stands out for its coffees with truly unique characteristics. Located west of Antigua, between the Acatenango Volcano and the Volcán de Fuego, the region offers an ideal climate for coffee growing. Its high altitude, fertile volcanic soils, and regular rainfall promote the production of high-quality beans with rich and complex aromatic profiles that fully express the exceptional terroir of this volcanic zone.

Bourbon, originally from Ethiopia via Yemen, is renowned for its exceptional cup quality. It thrives at high altitude in rich volcanic soils, producing small, dense cherries. Caturra, a natural mutation of Bourbon, is more compact and productive, with bright acidity and expressive floral and fruity notes.

The washed process is the most common processing method in Central America, known for bringing out the clarity and vibrancy of coffees. After harvest, the cherries are pulped and fermented to remove the mucilage before being carefully washed and dried. This process emphasizes the purity of flavors and often reveals bright acidity, clean fruit notes, and a beautiful sweetness on the finish—characteristics that pair particularly well with Honduran coffees.
